Questions & Answers

Q: Are we able to do our own catering, or bring in outside caterers?
A: No. For food safety and other reasons, catering is provided by our kitchen. Wedding cakes can be brought into the venue if arranged prior to the event.

Q: We have a number of guests with special dietary requirements. Are you able to provide meals for them?
A: All dietary requirements can be catered for. Menus come with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We can adapt menus in cases of food allergies and so on. Our team will work with you to make sure everyone has a great dining experience.

Q: Are we able to bring in our own alcohol?
A: Abel Estate is fully licensed, which means no outside alcohol can be brought in. That said, if there is a particular drink that you’d like at your event, arrangements can be made to buy that in for you.

Q: How does the pricing work?
A: The cost of the event is made up of the venue fee (some days/events are free) plus a cost per person for food and/or drink. Other selections, such as hire items, DJ and so on, are additional to that cost. We don’t charge extra for tables and chairs, tableware, or for use of the basic sound system.

Q: What’s included in the minimum spend?
A: A minimum spend is calculated on all venue-owned or supplied items, such as food, drink or hire items. Any third-party supply arranged by the venue on your behalf is not included.

Q: Do your prices include GST?
A: All prices are GST inclusive.

Q: What table configurations are available?
A: You can have the modern rectangular wooden tables in rows, normally with linen runners and flowers down the middle, or circular tables with tablecloths. An extra fee applies if the table style has to be changed between weddings.

Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: We do. You can pay monthly from when you book to one month before the wedding. There is no interest charged, and couples tell us it makes it much easier to save for their big day. Alternatively, you can pay half up front, and half one month before the wedding, or half up front and the rest monthly.

Whichever option you choose, our team will show you exactly what the payments will be, so there are no surprises.
